Investment Preparation Checklist

It’s important to be prepared and always have your best showing with investors. At the stage of investment we are looking at, you don’t need to have all the answers, however, there are some things in particular we would like to see in order to understand more about you and your company. If you need help on getting started, our Resources section can give you some assistance.

  • Pitch Deck: Try to fit everything into about 10 slides. It will keep us and you focused on your idea and answer a lot of questions about your business.
  • Executive Summary: On no more than 2 pages, write out your ideas. Tell us your vision and the details about your company. This is also a chance to show off your writing skills.
  • Visuals: It’s important to convey your message in pictures and not just words as well. Sometimes abstract ideas are best conveyed with diagrams, graphs or other pictures to help all of us be on the same page and understand your idea.
  • Team Bios: We want to get to know you, not just your wonderful and creative thoughts on how you will change the world. And we don’t need to just know where you worked and what schools you attended. Feel free to give us some insight on what motivates the team.
  • Financial Model: Technology, Features, and Products are great, but as Investors, we want to understand how you are going to build a business. Having a grasp of what it will cost, how much you will charge and everything in between, ensures that we both know how the business works. While the model may change and there may be a lot of assumptions, it’s best to get it all on paper and be able to discuss what makes sense.

As a first step in our relationship, please submit your Executive Summary to: ideas_AT_corteq.com and we promise to get back to you in a timely manner.
